MEMAN Stakeholder workshop assessing the potential of supply chains in Germany

On Wednesday 5 October 2016, stakeholders interested in the MEMAN project were invited to participate in a workshop addressing the potential of supply chains in Karlsruhe, Germany. During the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to share their ideas on how to further improve resource efficiency and sustainability in the manufacturing process.

After an introductory speech reporting on the progress of the MEMAN project, the stakeholders focused their discussions on the material parameters to be taken into account to assess the sustainability of the supply chain. Later in the day, Udo Sievers from Eiffo explained the new responsibilities of European companies regarding sustainability assessment, and novel tools for information management in the supply chain such as Industry 4.0 were introduced to the participants. Following the presentation of case studies in the steel and coating industry, the meeting ended with a panel debate allowing participants to propose solutions on how to assess the potential of the manufacturing processes and further develop the supply chains.

The next MEMAN regional stakeholder workshop will take place in Toulouse, France on 20 October 2016.
